Advanced Split Testing with AdsBridge

ab testing with adsbridge

There are several obvious tips for carrying out split tests: compelling statistics, sufficient traffic, excluded accidents etc. You can play around with that for a long time, but these things are well-known. Instead, we’d like to focus on advanced algorithms in A/B testing.

An excellent solution for conducting such tests is offered by AdsBridge

How do I run an A/B test?

Before anything else, you need to get an account with AdsBridge.

Everything is based on the traffic distribution system (TDS). You can set a traffic share for each offer and landing page by adding rules and paths to your distribution. The simplest option is to see the performance of a single ‘1 LP / 2 offers’ combination.

How to do this?

First, go to AdsBridge ‘Dashboard’ – ‘Campaigns’ – ‘Create Campaign’Fill in the general information that is name, group, traffic source and domain. Choose campaign type, ‘Path‘ in this case.

Configure additional settings, if needed visit AdsBridge campaign setup guide

Click ‘Save’ and proceed to the next step.

Targeting settings.

For a simple “1 LP – 2 offers” test you need to add the subject to “Default rule” and set up a traffic share between those 2 offers at 50-50. Click “DONE” for the next step, copy the campaign link from the popup window, paste it to the traffic source as the target URL.

Drive some traffic to it and watch the performance!

What if I want to conduct an A/B test at an advanced level? Use path splitting.

Let’s say you’ve mixed traffic and you need to understand which vertical you should focus on: Pin submit or lead generation? You have 2 landing pages for each vertical with the fact that you can try to optimize conversions using a direct link. You have 2 offers or different creatives of one for each vertical.

Does it seem to already get confusing while it’s only 2 verticals and a couple of combinations? It’s not, really.

Create a campaign. Go to ‘targeting settings‘ and let the magic begin.

Click ‘Create path‘, check the ‘Direct link‘ checkbox first and add the landings and offers (per each vertical). Go to the second path and repeat the operations for the second vertical. Click ‘DONE‘, copy the campaign link and you’re ready to conduct a thorough A/B test which will allow you to determine:

  • Which vertical converts better;
  • Which ‘LP /Direct link – offer’ combination is more efficient.

As you can see, everything is plain and simple.

Also!

You are not limited to carry out such split tests solely within a vertical. Thanks to detailed traffic distribution (with 16 parameters) you can perform split tests for one campaign with several conditions: within certain locations, traffic types, among different devices, etc. Therefore, you get a general reference for a set of tests at the output. All optimization in one place.

Let’s say you have mixed mobile traffic from around the world and offers in the same verticals. The random conditions of the traffic do not allow you to drive it to certain direction. It gets worse if you have additional variables – device type or GEO.

AdsBridge easily beats the task! Add two more conditions to your paths and your filter will be more accurate.

The key element.

The result of an A/B test is influenced by many factors that are difficult to keep up with. Therefore, automatic optimization is a godsend. It is the built-in mathematical algorithm which corrects traffic distribution. In simple terms – if one of the offers or a landing page (or a combination of two) receives more conversions, AdsBridge will redistribute more traffic to it.

It saves the time you’d likely prefer to spend for a cup of coffee, in peace.
